‘We Will Come’: Dangote Accepts Bae U Barbie’s YouTube Invitation

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has accepted an invitation to appear on Nigerian content creator Bae U Barbie’s YouTube programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask, following an appeal for him to connect with younger audiences.

Bae U Barbie, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, extended the invitation while questioning the billionaire about his media appearances and the need to reach young Nigerians interested in his business and its planned initial public offering (IPO).

In a video shared on social media, the content creator noted that most of Dangote’s interviews had appeared on platforms less popular among younger audiences.

He clarified that he was not asking the industrialist to dismiss his media team but urged him to consider appearing on his programme after completing his existing engagements.

Responding, Dangote acknowledged the importance of engaging young Nigerians, describing them as the country’s future.

“Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, we have not really done very well for Nigeria and also for Africa. That’s the truth,” he said.

The billionaire said older Nigerians needed to share their experiences with younger generations to help them understand the country’s history and development.

He also agreed that his generation should pay greater attention to platforms that appeal to young people.

“So really, you are right. Going forward, this sort of audience is the audience that we, somebody like me, should actually face,” Dangote said.

During the conversation, Bae U Barbie also highlighted his previous interview with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, claiming credit for giving younger Nigerians access to the former leader.

Dangote further recounted how his experiences as a young man shaped his willingness to take photographs with members of the public who approach him, despite his billionaire status.

He also clarified that a social media post in which he referred to divine blessings was an expression of gratitude rather than a request for more.

When pressed about appearing on Curiosity Made Me Ask, Dangote accepted the invitation, saying, “We will come.”

He added that he wanted the proposed conversation to be open, allowing young Nigerians to ask questions about his business journey, how he built his empire and the factors behind his success.
