Bad Roads, Fake Claims: SWEGOP Challenges Government And Politicians

The South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has called on the government to declare a state of emergency on roads following extensive damage caused by rainfall in several areas.

The guild expressed concern that many roads had been washed away or rendered impassable, causing hardship for motorists and disrupting commercial and economic activities.

In a statement signed by its Acting Chairman, Chief Tunde Busari, and Publicity Secretary, Mr Remi Oladoye, SWEGOP urged authorities to urgently rehabilitate damaged roads, improve drainage systems and introduce lasting measures to prevent further deterioration.

The organisation also cautioned politicians against using misinformation and unsubstantiated allegations as campaign strategies, urging them to focus on policies, development plans and practical solutions to the challenges facing Nigerians.

It stressed that political actors should explain how they intend to address the needs of the electorate rather than engage in personal attacks that could undermine public confidence in the democratic process.

SWEGOP called for responsible communication and constructive engagement by politicians, alongside a coordinated government response to the worsening road conditions, particularly during the rainy season.
