Yoruba Nollywood has lost veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, after a battle with cancer.
Ogogo reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, while receiving treatment for the ailment.
The actor’s death came days after his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, appealed publicly for urgent assistance, revealing that their father was battling stage-four cancer.
His family had earlier dismissed reports of his death on August 18, describing them as false as he continued to receive treatment.
Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, producer, director and screenwriter.
He featured in numerous Yoruba and English-language productions and was widely recognised for his distinctive acting style and memorable roles.
Further details on his death and funeral arrangements are expected from his family.
