‘Politics Taken Too Far’ — Oyo Govt Reacts To Makinde’s Exclusion From Road Flag-Off

The Oyo State Government has criticised the exclusion of Governor Seyi Makinde from the flag-off of the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road in Oluyole Local Government Area on Monday.

Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, described the development as “taking politics too far”, alleging that the governor was deliberately excluded from the ceremony.

The event at Idi Ayunre was attended by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, APC governorship candidate Sarafadeen Alli and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Oyelade rejected the explanation that Makinde was not invited because he was on leave, noting that an acting governor was currently running the state.

He said Makinde remained unperturbed but regretted that the road project’s flag-off had been reduced to a political event.

“The course of 2027 is set, and no level of indecorum or desperation from whatever quarters will hold back the will of the people,” Oyelade said.
