Tinubu Flags Off N216bn Osun-Oyo Road Projects

President Bola Tinubu has flagged off the construction of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road and the reconstruction of the Gbongan-Osogbo Road, two federal highway projects valued at about ₦216 billion.
Represented by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, at the flag-off ceremony in Osogbo on Thursday, the President urged contractors handling the projects to deliver quality work within the stipulated timelines while ensuring value for public funds.
Tinubu also directed the contractors to engage young Nigerians during the execution of the projects to help them acquire practical skills and work experience.
“This administration will enforce quality standards, transparency and value for money. Every naira must count, every milestone must be met, and every community must feel the benefit,” he said.
The President explained that the 44-kilometre Gbongan-Osogbo Road project, awarded to Trucrete Solutions Limited, will cost ₦101.8 billion and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
He added that the 82-kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road, awarded to Peculiar Concerns Limited, is valued at ₦114.85 billion and also has a 24-month completion period.
Tinubu said the projects form part of the Federal Government’s broader infrastructure agenda aimed at improving transportation, strengthening economic activities and enhancing connectivity across the Southwest.
He also highlighted progress on other major federal road projects, including the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha Road, the Ilesha-Akure-Owo-Benin Road, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the Trans-Sahara Trade Route.
The ceremony was attended by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, APC governorship candidate in Osun State Bola Oyebamiji and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, declared support for Tinubu’s administration and urged voters to back the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
Governor Okpebholo and Works Minister Umahi also called on residents of Osun State to support the ruling party in the forthcoming governorship election, describing it as a show of appreciation for the Federal Government’s infrastructure investments.
