FG Links Three Suspects to Oriire School Kidnap, Files 10-Count Charges
The Federal Government has filed a 10-count terrorism charge against three men over their alleged involvement in the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The defendants—Abdulrazak Umar (a.k.a. Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (a.k.a. Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (a.k.a. Abu Itisar)—are facing trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and illegal mining.
According to the charge sheet, the trio allegedly conspired with other suspects between January and May 2026 to carry out the school abduction, aided the operation and concealed information about the alleged masterminds despite knowing of the plot.
The Federal Government also accused the suspects of professing membership of Darul Salam, described in the charge as an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Ansaru. Umar was further accused of providing terrorist training and inciting violence through a WhatsApp group titled “The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace,” as well as engaging in unlawful gold mining in Niger State.
A security source disclosed that the suspects are expected to be arraigned next week following the conclusion of investigations, adding that security agencies are continuing efforts to apprehend and prosecute other individuals linked to the case.Follow The Pendulum Media for more news updates.
