‘Nigerians Are Suffering, City Boys Are Flying Private Jets’ — NDC
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticised the City Boys Movement, a campaign platform of President Bola Tinubu, over what it described as an extravagant and wasteful lifestyle amid the economic hardship facing Nigerians.
The NDC, through its National Spokesman, Osa Director, accused officials of the movement of living in luxury and flying private jets while millions of Nigerians struggle with the effects of the policies of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.
Director, in a statement, described the alleged lifestyle as “tone-deaf conduct”, saying it showed how insensitive and disconnected the Tinubu administration had become to the plight of Nigerians.
According to him, the same government asking citizens to endure economic hardship caused by its policies is allegedly living in opulence and wasting public resources on lavish lifestyles.
“Nigeria cannot continue to sink in abject poverty while the Tinubu administration funds the luxurious living of a few corrupt and incompetent politicians,” he said.
Director said the country was at a critical point and urged Nigerians to reject what he described as government waste and extravagance.
“The nation is at the precipice. We cannot remain perched on the edge. We must collectively reject wastage and the extravagant lifestyle of a privileged few.
“It is our duty as a people and as a nation to say no to the APC by coming out in our numbers to vote them out,” the statement read.
He further said the NDC’s presidential candidate had demonstrated “zero tolerance for government waste”, promising that public resources would be judiciously utilised if the party takes control of the country.
“Nigerians can attest to our presidential candidate’s zero tolerance for government waste. With him in charge of the affairs of this nation, the judicious use of the people’s resources will be guaranteed,” he added.
