Atiku Drops Tinubu Age Bomb, Says ‘I Have Evidence’

The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old, saying he has evidence to prove the allegation in court if necessary.

Atiku made the claim in an interview with the BBC published on Friday, while explaining his decision to contest the presidency again in 2027.

The former Vice-President said his repeated presidential bids were driven by his opposition to military rule, previous disqualifications and his belief that he has a constitutional right to seek the nation’s highest office.

Atiku said his experience, competence, patriotism and physical fitness made him suitable to serve as president, arguing that he should make himself available to Nigerians.

“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?

“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court,” Atiku said.

He also criticised the Tinubu administration over the worsening insecurity in the country, blaming what he described as government irresponsibility, particularly in the areas of defence and policing.

The ADC candidate promised that if elected president, his administration would tackle the country’s security challenges within one year of assuming office.

Atiku is among the opposition figures seeking to challenge Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
