‘We Are Sorry’ — APC Chairman Apologises To Aggrieved Members
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has apologised to aggrieved party members over perceived wrongs during the party’s internal primaries.
Yilwatda made the apology on Thursday in Ibadan during the launch of the APC Campaign Office, saying the party’s National Working Committee takes responsibility for mistakes committed by committees it constituted to conduct the primaries.
He appealed to members who felt “hurt, injured, prevented or excluded” during the process to forgive the party and remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“If anybody is hurt, if anybody is injured, if anybody is prevented or excluded in any form or the other, we take responsibility,” Yilwatda said.
“On TV, before Nigerians, we take responsibility for all that has happened. I appeal to everybody that we are sorry.”
The APC chairman urged members at the polling unit, ward and local government levels to treat the disagreements as an internal family affair and work towards rebuilding unity.
He also described Oyo as strategically important to the APC because of its large voting population, second only to Lagos.
The party’s Oyo governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, commended Yilwatda for meeting with aspirants and stakeholders, saying his interventions within two days had surpassed what they had previously achieved.
The apology comes amid complaints by some APC governorship aspirants in Oyo, who have opposed Alli’s emergence, alleging that the party’s candidate was imposed on them.
