Oyo Govt Vows To Prosecute Those Found Guilty Of Exam Malpractice

The Oyo State Government has vowed to prosecute any individual, teacher, head teacher or principal found culpable of examination malpractice in the recently concluded Common Entrance Placement Examination.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, stated this during a meeting with Local Inspectors of Education, principals and a radio presenter at the ministry’s conference room.

The meeting was convened to investigate allegations of examination leakage and malpractice surrounding the August 6 examination conducted for admission into Junior Secondary School One (JSS1).

Olayiwola said the government had introduced measures to prevent malpractice during the Joint Promotion and Common Entrance examinations, stressing that no act capable of undermining the integrity of the education system would be tolerated.

He disclosed that all principals had signed letters of indemnity, making any school administrator found to have aided, abetted or participated in malpractice liable to sanctions under the law.

The commissioner said the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences, regardless of status.

He also urged media organisations to verify allegations thoroughly before publishing reports that could wrongly indict individuals or institutions.
Olayiwola reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring credible, transparent and fair examinations across Oyo State.
