Oyo Declares Thursday Work-Free to Mark Isese Day
The Oyo State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, a work-free day to commemorate Isese Day and celebrate the rich cultural and traditional heritage of the Yoruba people.
The declaration was contained in a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
Governor ‘Seyi Makinde congratulated adherents of African Traditional Religion across Oyo State, Nigeria and beyond, wishing them a successful and spiritually enriching celebration.
According to the memo, the work-free day is intended to enable workers and residents to participate fully in the celebration while offering prayers for peace, unity and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria.
Makinde also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fairness and inclusiveness across all religions, while appreciating traditional worshippers for their support over the past seven years.
The governor introduced the Isese Day celebration as part of efforts to promote Yoruba cultural heritage and harness cultural tourism as a driver of economic growth in Oyo State.
