Oriire Abduction: Oyo TESCOM Moves To Reassure Affected Teachers, Students
The Oyo State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has paid a sympathy visit to teachers and students affected by the recent abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The delegation, led by the TESCOM Chairman, Mrs Olubukola Oladipo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Serifat Abimbola, and other senior officials of the commission, visited the victims and their immediate families to express concern over their wellbeing and reaffirm the government’s commitment to their safety and recovery.
Speaking during the visit, Oladipo commended the courage and resilience of the victims despite the traumatic experience.
She assured them that the government would continue to provide the necessary support to enable them recover fully and return to their normal activities.
The TESCOM chairman also disclosed that the government was putting new safety mechanisms in place to strengthen security and prevent a recurrence of such incidents in schools across the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Abimbola, urged the affected teachers and students not to be discouraged by the incident, assuring them that measures were being put in place to prevent similar occurrences.
While distributing gifts and other relief materials to the abductees, Abimbola said the government had ensured that the victims received the necessary support to aid their mental and emotional recovery from the trauma.
Responding on behalf of the victims, one of the affected teachers expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government and TESCOM for the visit, describing it as a source of comfort and encouragement.
The visit ended with prayers for the victims and their families, alongside renewed calls for improved security in public schools and communities across the state.
