Kaduna Police Arrest 16 Kidnap Suspects, Bust Counterfeit Dollar Syndicate
The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 16 suspected kidnappers, dismantled a counterfeit United States dollar syndicate and recovered stolen property worth about ₦78 million during coordinated operations across the state.
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad, who briefed journalists on Tuesday, said the intelligence-led operations also led to the arrest of suspected gunrunners and drug suppliers, as well as the recovery of firearms, stolen vehicles, livestock and hard drugs.
Among the major breakthroughs was the arrest of six suspects linked to an alleged counterfeit US dollar syndicate.
Police said investigations began after a 20-year-old woman was caught attempting to exchange suspected fake dollar notes for naira, leading to the dismantling of the wider network.
In another operation, three suspected gunrunners were arrested in Jos, Plateau State, while police also apprehended an alleged kidnap kingpin, Abdullahi Mohammed, popularly known as “Aala,” who reportedly confessed to several kidnapping operations in Kaduna and Kano states.
The Command also recovered a stolen Toyota Sienna vehicle, rescued 80 cattle and 10 sheep from suspected rustlers, and recovered 190 solar inverters and 10 lithium batteries valued at approximately ₦78 million.
Police further arrested two suspects allegedly supplying hard drugs to bandits operating around Kasuwar Magani, recovering a large quantity of illicit substances.
According to the Commissioner, the Command recovered 10 firearms, 83 packs of hard drugs, 32 stolen mobile phones, two plasma television sets and 410 cattle during the operations.
Muhammad assured residents that the offensive against criminal elements would continue in collaboration with other security agencies and urged the public to support security efforts with timely and credible information.
