Halima Dangote: We Let Our Business Results Speak for Us

Halima Dangote has revealed that she and her sisters, Fatima and Mariya, have never been particularly interested in flaunting their wealth or prominent family background.

Speaking during a Bloomberg interview, Halima said the sisters were not “spoilt” and generally preferred to keep a low profile, even when interacting with people from similar backgrounds.

She said being relatively unknown once made life easier for them, but that has changed as their public profiles have grown.

“Now people recognise us, but it was easier when we were not recognised,” Halima said, explaining that she and her sisters were not particularly comfortable with social media or publicly displaying their personal lives.

According to her, none of the three sisters is inclined to publicise what they own, what they do or their achievements.

Instead, Halima said they prefer to let their professional performance provide the evidence of their progress.

“The results are just the ones speaking for themselves: the sales of this business, the profit of this, our growth,” she said.

She added that the sisters occupy key positions in businesses and that their performance could be measured through the figures associated with those ventures.

“We are all in those key positions, and I mean, numbers don’t lie. So that’s it,” she added.

Her comments provide an insight into how the daughters of billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote approach public attention, with Halima stressing that their preference is to keep their personal lives private while allowing their professional results to speak for them.
