APC Campaign Trains Attacked In Ibadan, SSACO Condemns Violence
The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has condemned separate attacks on APC campaign activities in Ibadan, describing the incidents as a threat to peaceful political participation in Oyo State.
The organisation said the wife of the Oyo State APC governorship candidate, Alhaja Tawakalitu Alli, was attacked during a medical outreach she organised at Ibikunle House, Ayeye, on Wednesday.
It also alleged that campaign teams of the APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, and the party’s Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency candidate, Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo, were attacked at Agbaje Market, Orita-Merin, and Idi-Arere respectively.
In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, SSACO accused supporters of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) of being behind the attacks and called on Governor Seyi Makinde and the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, to rein in their supporters.
The organisation urged security agencies to investigate the incidents, identify those responsible and prosecute them, stressing that political parties should be allowed to campaign without intimidation.
SSACO further alleged that the attacks were politically motivated, but said APC candidates would continue their campaign activities across the state.
The organisation called on political parties to focus on their programmes and policies ahead of the 2027 elections rather than resorting to violence.
