Oyo HOA Proposes CCTV Cameras, Security Lights, and Others to Check Kidnappings
Lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly have suggested some measures to curb kidnapping and expose criminal elements in the state.
The proposition was followed by an urgent matter on kidnapping brought by one of the lawmakers, Mr. Musbau Azeez.
Mr. Azeez pointed out the resurgence of kidnapping in the Kajola Local Government Area of the state and that the effect of the kidnapping has made the Oke Ogun people keep living in perpetual fear.
He also added that farmers are afraid of going to farm, with others becoming apprehensive to go about their daily business activities because of fear of being killed, maimed, or kidnapped.
Reacting to the issue, the House decried the resurgence of the insecurities in the area, thereby calling on the police and other security agencies to urgently secure the release of the Medical Director of Baptist Medical Centre, Okeho, Dr. David Lawal, and another staffer of the hospital, simply identified as Kafilat, who was kidnapped on July 23.
It also encouraged the executive arm of government, through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, to put all needed machinery in place to address the situation.
According to them, the machinery should include the installation of CCTV cameras, security lights, and other gadgets in strategic locations across the state to expose and arrest the perpetrators in the state.
