Buhari Sets to Increase Corps Members’ Pay— Minister, Sunday Dare
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, has said there is a proposal to increase corps members’ allowances before President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dare disclosed this in Abuja yesterday when he inaugurated a 19-man committee for the 50 years celebration of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He said the management of the NYSC had sent a proposal which his ministry had taken to the president for approval, adding that under the present administration, corps members’ allowance was increased to N33,000 from N19,700.
The minister, however, said the committee was expected to make recommendations on reforms and the welfare of the NYSC.
He also urged the committee to examine the operations of the scheme and recommend areas of improvement to sustain its relevance.
