Just In: Man Lynched, Burnt in Oyo for Okada Theft

“He was beaten, pushed to the ground, and pressed by other machines as if they are ironing a set of clothes.”

An unidentified man has been burnt alive on Thursday by an angry mob in the Cele area of Oyo town

Our reporter at The Pendulum Media confirmed the tragic incident occurred around 8:00 pm when the alleged thief was accused of stealing a motorcycle (okada).

According to witness account, people around the area did not allow the suspect to speak before taking laws into their hands.

“He was beaten, pushed to the ground, and pressed by other machines as if they are ironing a set of clothes.” They echoed

A passer-by (name-withheld) who also engaged our correspondent shared his displeasure on how citizens continually take laws into their hands without allowing the law to take its due course.

“Where are we going in this country? Why is the society full of narrow minded people who considered killing their fellow human beings? Though we all know stealing is not good. It’s even in the Holy books that “Thou shall not steal” to show how much our creator despises it.

“Nevertheless, we shouldn’t take the law into our hands. The people as good citizens have done well already by catching him, they shouldn’t spoil their good deeds by taking the law into their hands. What we call jungle Justice.” He said

However, the Police and other law enforcement agencies are yet to react to the incident as the burnt corpse is still visible in the gutter on Friday.
