Makinde: My Presidency Will Not Last Beyond Four Years
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged to serve only one four-year term if elected president in the 2027 general election.
Makinde made the promise on Saturday at an Allied Peoples Movement (APM) town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, where he also vowed to tackle insecurity, poverty and other challenges facing Nigeria.
“Our government will not last beyond four years. And it will be an all-inclusive government,” he said.
His pledge echoes that of Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, who has also promised to serve a single term if elected.
The pledges come amid renewed debate over Nigeria’s informal power-sharing arrangement between the North and South. President Bola Tinubu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is seeking re-election in 2027.
