Tinubu US Lawsuit: Lobbying Firm Releases Fresh Court Documents

A United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has released fresh court documents in its federal lawsuit involving Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

The firm announced the development in a statement posted on its verified X account, saying the filing cited criminal proceedings and public reports concerning an alleged hacking operation targeting American activists.

It alleged that DCI Group, which it described as representing the Tinubu administration in Washington, D.C., was connected to the operation, which reportedly involved stolen information used to discredit critics.

The firm said the allegations raised concerns about American sovereignty, foreign interference and possible transnational repression.

Von Batten-Montague-York is separately suing Tinubu, Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa, Fani-Kayode, and DCI Group.

It alleges that it faced defamatory attacks and statements it interpreted as threats of kidnapping, physical harm, referral to Nigerian security agencies and extradition.

The firm referenced the 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in warning about the potential risks faced by critics of foreign governments.

“The abduction and murder of Jamal Khashoggi shows how far a foreign government may go to silence critics,” the firm stated, adding that it would announce its next course of action.

The allegations cited by the firm have not been established as proven facts in the information provided.
