NAF Crash: Aiyedatiwa Orders Security, Emergency Agencies To Rescue Victims
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has directed emergency and security agencies to provide full logistical and human support for ongoing search and rescue operations following the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area.
The governor also ordered that the crash site be cordoned off and secured to allow emergency responders to work without interference.
Aiyedatiwa, in a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, expressed sadness over the incident and sympathised with the Nigerian Air Force and families of those on board.
He said he had contacted the NAF leadership, the Ilaje Local Government Chairman and security agencies on the ground to support the rescue operation.
The governor directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ministry of Health and relevant security agencies to immediately mobilise personnel and resources to the scene.
He also urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with emergency responders and avoid spreading unverified information.
The Pendulum Media earlier reported that the NAF aircraft, an ATR-42 with tail number NGR 931, crashed in Igbokoda while on a routine mission from Benin, Edo State, to Lagos.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board.
