What’s Behind Agbara Nla’s N170.6m Cinema Take?
Nollywood faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return has raised eyebrows at the box office after raking in more than N170.6 million in just four days, with the film also breaking three major opening-weekend records.
The film distributor, Nile Group, announced the feat on Monday, saying the movie recorded packed cinemas and sold-out shows across the country.

According to the distributor, Agbara Nla: The Return has now recorded the biggest non-December Nollywood opening weekend, the biggest October opening weekend and the biggest opening weekend ever for a faith-based film.
The latest figure adds to the movie’s impressive performance during its preview period, when it reportedly generated about N70 million from 12,134 admissions.

That preview performance was also described as the biggest single-day preview gross recorded in West Africa, while the admissions figure reportedly became the highest first-day admissions recorded in 2026.
Despite sharing the cinema market with titles including Black Market, Star Lomo and Avengers: Endgame – Encore, Agbara Nla: The Return still emerged as one of the biggest Nollywood opening performers.

Its N170.6 million opening currently places it behind only Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scene on the distributor’s comparison list, while putting it ahead of A Tribe Called Judah and Love and New Notes.
The film is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
