Lagos Warns Motorists As Repairs Begin On Kara Bridge
The Lagos State Government has advised motorists to plan their journeys as repair works begin on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Federal Ministry of Works announced at the weekend that rehabilitation work would commence on the popular and busy bridge following reported damage to a section of the structure.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists travelling towards Ibadan on Tuesday to consider alternative routes and plan their movements ahead.
“We advise motorists traversing the corridor to plan their journeys ahead,” Osiyemi said.
He explained that to minimise the impact of the repairs on traffic, only one half of the affected section would be closed at a time, while motorists would use the other half under the direction of traffic managers.
The commissioner appealed to motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic officials to ensure the rehabilitation work is completed within the scheduled two weeks.
The government urged motorists using the corridor to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans as the repair works continue.
