‘Not Everyone Can Own A House’ — Wike Defends Tinubu’s Record
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying residents’ quality of life in Abuja has improved.
Wike spoke during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while responding to criticism of the government’s performance.
He argued that quality of life should not be measured solely by the number of people who own houses.
“Quality of life is not about housing because everybody does not have a house,” Wike said, questioning why Nigerians should conclude that life has not improved simply because everyone does not own a home.
He cited the rehabilitation of the rail system and construction of roads across the FCT as evidence of improvements under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the restored rail service has made transportation easier, while new roads have opened up previously inaccessible areas.
“Have the roads we have provided in the FCT not improved quality of life? People can now access where they could not access initially,” he said.
