Tinubu Orders Manhunt For Kidnappers After 21 Abductees Rescued In Kogi
President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to track down and prosecute the criminals behind the abduction of 21 Nigerians, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in Kogi State.
The victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were rescued on Monday following a coordinated search-and-rescue operation in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
Tinubu, in a statement posted on his official X handle, @officialBAT, expressed delight over the safe release of the abductees and commended the security agencies involved in the operation.
The rescue operation was carried out by a combined team of military personnel, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and local vigilantes.
According to the President, the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
He said security forces had continued to pursue the fleeing kidnappers, stressing that those responsible for the abduction would face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu also directed the security agencies to sustain pressure on criminal elements and ensure that anyone who aided the abduction is brought to justice.
“I am delighted to receive the news that the fifteen members of the National Youth Service Corps and six other innocent, law-abiding Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State by criminal elements have regained their freedom,” he said.
The President commended the rescue team for its courage and expressed appreciation to the families of the abducted persons for their patience and understanding during the ordeal.
He further assured parents and loved ones of corps members that his administration remained committed to protecting their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians.
“Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime,” Tinubu added.
The President concluded by commending the nation’s security and intelligence personnel for their efforts.
