Atiku To Nigerian Youths: I’ll Replace Survival With $100bn Enterprise Fund

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has promised to shift Nigerian youths from what he described as a culture of economic survival to enterprise and prosperity if elected president in 2027.

Atiku said his administration would introduce a $100 billion financing programme for start-ups and entrepreneurs, alongside measures to restore purchasing power and reduce the cost of living.

The former vice-president made the pledge in a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday, saying young Nigerians needed opportunities to prosper rather than a government that teaches them how to cope with hardship.

“Nigeria’s young people do not need a government that teaches them how to survive hardship. They need a government that gives them the opportunity to prosper,” Atiku said.

He said the rising cost of living had weakened small businesses, reduced purchasing power and made it harder for young Nigerians to secure jobs, access capital and achieve economic independence.

“My commitment is to change that. We will restore purchasing power, reduce the cost of living and deliberately expand opportunities for young Nigerians, including through a $100 billion financing programme for start-ups and entrepreneurs,” he stated.

Atiku said the goal was to move young Nigerians “from dependence to enterprise, from unemployment to productivity, and from palliatives to prosperity.”

He disclosed that he made the commitment while receiving a nationwide delegation of N-Power beneficiaries who visited him to declare their support for his presidential bid.

According to him, Nigeria’s future could not be built through the distribution of poverty but through an economy that creates jobs, rewards enterprise and gives young people a fair chance to succeed.

He added that the 2027 election would present Nigerians with a choice between an economy that “shrinks opportunities” and one that restores “hope, dignity and prosperity.”
