Operation KOSAYE Nets 16 Suspects, Police Recover Stolen Vehicles, Illegal Diesel In Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 16 suspects and recovered stolen vehicles, illegal petroleum products and vandalised telecommunications equipment in a major crackdown under its ongoing Operation KOSAYE.
The operations, carried out between July 12 and July 21, 2026, targeted offences including illegal diesel bunkering, infrastructure vandalism, burglary, house-breaking, theft, vehicle hijacking and defilement.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development on Saturday, saying the operations were conducted on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s intelligence-led policing strategy.
Among those arrested were Kabiru Afolabi, Nnabike Uzolo, Chino Mgbenya, Hammed Olanrewaju, Emmanuel Victor, Mathew Mark, Sodiq Raji, Zubby Nzube, Adeyemi Omoyajuowo, Chimezie Iwuanya, Saliu Akinwande, Ayomide Odufuwa, Adura Adebanjo, Samuel Sunday, Bashiru and Muhammed.
According to the police, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit busted a suspected diesel bunkering syndicate at Abule-Iroko, Sango, leading to the arrest of Kabiru Afolabi, 51.
Items recovered from the operation included four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 13 jerry cans containing suspected diesel, a pumping machine and a generator allegedly used in the illegal business.
The command also arrested two suspects accused of vandalising telecommunications cables in Ota, recovered a stolen motorcycle in Ajuwon, and tracked down suspects linked to burglary and house-breaking incidents through forensic analysis of a stolen mobile phone.
In another operation, detectives arrested a 50-year-old suspect over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl. The victim was taken for medical treatment, while the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Police also recovered a mini truck conveying aluminium doors and window frames after suspected armed robbers abandoned it while fleeing from officers along the Benin/Ore Expressway.
An abandoned bus was equally recovered in Atan-Ijebu following information provided by members of the public.
Babaseyi said investigations were ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects, adding that some of those arrested had already been charged to court.
He noted that Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended officers involved in the operations and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KOSAYE through intelligence-led policing, regular patrols and stronger community partnership.
