Sources: NAF Airstrike Hits Suspected Bandits’ Gathering Along Niger–Kaduna–Zamfara Border
Local sources have reportedly confirmed that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out an airstrike targeting a large gathering of suspected bandits in Dogon Dawa, located along the Niger–Kaduna–Zamfara border.
The development was disclosed by Bakatsine, a journalist who covers conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West, in a post shared on X on Monday.
According to the report, the suspected bandits had gathered to allegedly plan attacks when the airstrike occurred. Local sources claimed that numerous members of the group were killed during the operation, while more than 200 motorcycles were reportedly at the scene.
The sources further alleged that some of the surviving suspects, many of whom sustained injuries, fled toward the forests between Shadadi and Ma’undu through the Mangwaro axis.
In his post, Bakatsine wrote: “Local sources confirmed that a Nigerian Air Force airstrike targeted a large gathering of bandits in Dogon Dawa, along the Niger–Kaduna–Zamfara border.
“The strike reportedly killed numerous militants as they assembled to plan attacks. Sources also claim that over 200 motorcycles were present at the gathering.
“Some survivors, reportedly wounded, fled toward the forests between Shadadi and Ma’undu via the Mangwaro axis.”
Bakatsine described the operation as a significant setback for armed groups operating in the region and commended the Nigerian Air Force for sustaining pressure on bandits.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Air Force had not issued an official statement on the alleged operation, and the reported casualty figures and other details could not be independently verified.
