Nationwide Protest– Unfreeze Our Account Or Face Legal Action: CSO Warns UBA, Accuses DSS

A civil society organization CSO, http://CSO The Take-It-Back Movement, has sent a note of warning to UBA Group, threatening to sue the commercial bank if it refuses to unfreeze their account.

The civil society group alleged that the bank froze their account on the instructions of the Department of the State Services, DSS.

Adding that their action follows its involvement in the forthcoming proposed nationwide protest.

Recall that some Nigerians are mobilising for nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 to August 10, 2024 tagged #EndBadGovernace.

The CSO, took to its X handle on Friday and described the action as lawless demanding that the account be unfrozen within the next 24 hours, failing which it said a legal action will be instituted against UBA Group.

The post read, “It has now come to our attention that @UBAGroup has frozen our account on the instructions of the DSS over our involvement in the forthcoming protest.

“We describe this action as lawless, and demand our account be unfrozen immediately within the next 24hours, without which a legal action will be instituted against @UBAGroup,”.

Reacting to the development, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, referred to the act as a conspiracy against the Nigerian people.

The motive of the protest is to cry out over widespread hunger and inflation in the country.
