Tragedy: Traditional Ruler, Son Murdered In Taraba
A third class chief of Chanchanji, in Takum Local Government Council of Taraba State, Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya and his son, Yusuf Kunbiya have been killed by unknown gunmen, The Pendulum Media learnt.
The incident which occurred Friday evening along the Takum-Chanchanji road is now enveloped in tension.
Reports have it that the king was returning from a burial ceremony when the unfortunate happened.
In a reaction to the reports, the State police spokesperson, Gambo Kwache, confirmed the murder to newsmen stating that their division got the report that the third class chief of Chanchanji and his son were killed in an ambush in Jakudi village,”
Adding that more heavily armed policemen and other security agencies had been deployed to the area to maintain peace and order.
On his part, President General of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association condemned the killings and also called on the government and security operatives to bring the perpetrators to book.
He, however, pleaded with the people of the community to remain calm and allow the security operatives perform their constitutional responsibilities.
Recall that recently, the village head of Usmanu village in Karim-Lamido local government council of the state, Alhaji Auwal Abubakar, and his younger brother, were also killed by gunmen.
