Sokoto Police Rescue 10-Year-Old Boy Found Inside Sack, Arrest Kidnap Suspects
The Sokoto State Police Command has rescued a 10-year-old boy, Muhammad Sufiyanu, allegedly abducted in Gidan Madi, Tangaza Local Government Area, and arrested suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate in separate operations.
Police said detectives from the Gidan Madi Division rescued Sufiyanu late Monday after intercepting two men on a motorcycle carrying a concealed sack.
The suspects allegedly fled when challenged by the officers, who subsequently opened the sack and found the boy alive and responsive.
The boy was taken to Gidan Madi General Hospital for treatment and later discharged.
According to police, Sufiyanu told investigators that one of the suspects lured him into a room, injected him with a sedative and forced him into the sack.
One suspect has been arrested and is assisting with the investigation.
In a separate operation on August 8, police arrested Abdullahi Buba, also known as “Osho,” during a raid on a criminal hideout in Tudun Doki Village, Gwadabawa Local Government Area.
The command alleged that Buba was a member of a kidnapping syndicate involved in kidnappings and the collection of illegal levies from communities in Gwadabawa, Kware and Gada.
Police said the suspect was also assisting investigators in efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the officers involved and urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
The command said investigations into both cases were ongoing.
