Shettima Joins West African Leaders At ECOWAS Summit In Sierra Leone
Vice President Kashim Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) taking place in Lungi, Sierra Leone.
The high-level summit, hosted by Sierra Leonean President and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority, Julius Maada Bio, is being held at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre.
According to a statement by Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, leaders attending the meeting include Romuald Wadagni of Benin, José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, Adama Barrow of The Gambia, John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, Joseph Boakai of Liberia, Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal and Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo.
Also attending the summit as special guests are President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, who chairs the ECOWAS Business Council, and United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
The leaders are expected to deliberate on key regional issues, including peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure and sustainable development.
