Retraction, Apology, N15bn: Gbajabiamila Sues Alleged PFIPC Boss Over Defamation
The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the purported Director General of the Presidential Foreign Promotion Council (PFIPC), seeking a total of N15 billion in damages.
The suit, instituted before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), also seeks an order compelling Adeyemi to publish a full retraction of the alleged defamatory statements and tender a public apology in five national newspapers.
According to the court filing, Gbajabiamila is demanding N10 billion as general damages, N5 billion as aggravated damages, and N200 million as the cost of the legal action.
The Chief of Staff is further asking the court to direct Adeyemi to issue an unconditional retraction and apology over the alleged defamatory publication.
The case marks the latest twist in the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Promotion Council (PFIPC) and Adeyemi’s claim to its leadership.
