Presidential Election Tribunal Sets Date for Hearing
The long-awaited Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will commence hearing on Monday, 8th May 2023.
The Pendulum Media gathered that the court will listen to different petitions challenging the emergence of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) as Nigeria’s President-elect.
Ahmad El-Marzuq, the national legal adviser of the APC confirmed
the date.
He said, the APC legal team has been briefed and is ready to defend the party’s mandate.
Recall that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, declared Tinubu the president-elect on March 1.
Tinubu polled 8.8 million votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, P,DP, who scored 6.9 million, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, who amassed 6.1 million and 15 others.
Atiku and Obi have since filed separate petitions seeking orders to annul the election or declare them as winners of the polls.
