Kogi Orders Probe As Four Family Members, Dog Die After Eating Amala
The Kogi State Government has ordered an investigation after four members of the same family reportedly died after eating amala in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.
The family’s dog also reportedly died after consuming the same food, raising concerns over possible food poisoning or contamination.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, announced the probe in a statement on Saturday, saying Governor Ahmed Ododo directed the Commissioner for Health to establish what caused the deaths.
According to Fanwo, relevant food samples and other evidence would be examined to determine whether contamination or another medical or environmental factor was responsible.
The government also directed the Ministry of Health to work with relevant agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and appropriate public health measures.
Fanwo urged residents to remain calm and avoid speculating on the cause of the deaths until the investigation is concluded.
