Isaac Fayose Mocks Ayo Fayose’s REA Appointment, Calls It ‘Yeye’
Isaac Fayose has ridiculed the appointment of his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), describing the position as a “yeye appointment.”
Reacting in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Isaac insisted that his brother would reject the appointment announced by President Bola Tinubu just a day earlier.
“My brother won’t take the yeye appointment… E lo fi okan bale,” he wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis.
In an earlier video shared on his Instagram page, Isaac argued that the former Ekiti governor deserved a more prominent role in the Tinubu administration.
“They said they gave my brother DG, DG, not a minister, not ambassador.
“They said they gave him DG, head of parastatal, chairman of a committee.
They no see give him minister, they no give him ambassador,” he said.
Drawing a comparison with former presidential aide Reno Omokri, Isaac questioned why Omokri was appointed an ambassador while his brother was only offered the chairmanship of a federal agency.
He also claimed, without providing evidence, that the appointment may have been influenced by the recent visit of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to his residence.
“They gave my brother DG because Obi came on Saturday to visit me. So they said, no, we must enter that family,” he alleged.
Isaac further urged his brother to hand the position over to one of his children, insisting the appointment did not reflect Ayo Fayose’s political stature.
President Tinubu on Monday appointed Ayo Fayose Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency as part of 26 appointments into the boards and leadership of 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointment came months after the former Ekiti governor said he had no interest in serving in the Tinubu administration despite maintaining a cordial relationship with the President.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television in October 2025, Fayose disclosed that Tinubu had previously offered him an appointment, which he declined.
“Have you seen me taking an appointment from the APC? Asiwaju asked me, ‘What would we give you?’ I said, ‘Nothing, sir.’
“At 65, I’d rather be at home, being more responsible, doing other things that I need to do. I’ve served well. Two-time governor, I’ve done well. Tomorrow will hold itself.”
However, the Presidency announced on Monday that Fayose’s appointment, alongside 25 others, takes immediate effect.
