‘Entertainment Glorifies Satan, Not God,’ Jim Iyke Sparks Debate
The Nollywood actor says the entertainment industry promotes self-glorification rather than godly values, urging creatives to intentionally pursue a relationship with God despite the pressures of the profession.
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has stirred widespread reactions after claiming that the entertainment industry promotes values that glorify Satan rather than God.
The actor made the remarks during an appearance on The Joey Akan Experience podcast, where he described the entertainment industry as an environment that encourages self-worship and distracts people from their faith.
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live,” he said.
According to Iyke, the industry’s value system is largely at odds with Christian principles, arguing that creatives must make a deliberate effort to remain connected to God.
“Entertainment is totally orchestrated and created to extol the virtues of Satanism. What in entertainment glorifies God, except you intentionally or consciously go for Him, or pursue Him, or find your place with Him?” he asked.
The actor, however, clarified that he was not suggesting God is absent from the entertainment industry.
Rather, he said those who desire a relationship with God must intentionally nurture their faith despite the challenges and temptations associated with the profession.
Iyke added that although creativity is a gift from God, many people in the entertainment industry ultimately end up glorifying themselves instead of their Creator.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing that the entertainment industry often promotes values inconsistent with religious beliefs, while others argued that faith and entertainment can coexist.
