Dolly Parton, Queen Of Country Music, Dies At 80
Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her death on Tuesday, August 25, on behalf of the Parton and Owens families.
The iconic singer and songwriter was renowned for global hits including Jolene, 9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You, and built a career spanning music, film, business and philanthropy.
Parton sold more than 100 million records during her career and earned numerous major honours, including Grammy Awards and induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
She also founded Dollywood and became widely recognised for her philanthropic work, including her Imagination Library literacy programme.
The cause of her death was not immediately disclosed.
