BREAKING: JAMB Sets 150 Benchmark For University Admissions, 100 For Polytechnics
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved 150 as the minimum admissible score for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The decision was announced on Monday during the Board’s annual policy meeting held in Abuja, where key stakeholders in the education sector deliberated on admission guidelines for tertiary institutions across the country.
JAMB disclosed that the benchmark was adopted following consultations and voting by vice-chancellors and heads of tertiary institutions present at the meeting.
Under the new arrangement, universities and colleges of nursing will admit candidates with a minimum score of 150, while polytechnics agreed on 100 as their benchmark score for admission.
The Board noted that the benchmarks represent the minimum admissible scores, while individual institutions retain the right to set higher cut-off marks depending on their admission policies and competitiveness.
