Oyo PMS Accused Of Forcing Drivers To Buy ₦15,000 Campaign Stickers
The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has accused the leadership of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State of allegedly pressuring commercial motorists to buy campaign stickers and posters linked to political figures ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Wednesday, SSACO’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, alleged that minibus, tricycle, taxi and interstate bus operators were being compelled to purchase the materials at ₦15,000.
The organisation further claimed that drivers who refused to buy or display the campaign materials faced threats of an additional ₦5,000 fine.
SSACO identified New Garage, Iwo Road, Ojoo, Gbagi, Challenge and Mokola, among other locations in Ibadan, as areas where the alleged practice was prominent.
It also raised concerns over reports that the polling units of individual drivers were being compiled, demanding an explanation for the alleged data collection and warning against any attempt to monitor or intimidate voters.
The organisation said commercial motorists had the same right as other citizens to choose their preferred candidates without coercion, compulsory payments or threats of sanctions.
SSACO called on the PMS leadership, Governor Seyi Makinde and relevant authorities to investigate the allegations and ensure that transport workers were not forced to finance or advertise campaigns against their wishes.
The allegations have not been independently verified.
