Osun 2026: Oyintiloye Calls For Calm As Poll Nears
A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on political actors and residents to shun violence and embrace peace ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Oyintiloye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, made the appeal on Wednesday during an empowerment programme for informal workers in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area of the state.
He urged stakeholders and members of the public to promote tolerance and responsible political engagement before, during and after the election, stressing that political differences should not destroy the bonds among residents.
Oyintiloye also called on residents to exercise their franchise peacefully, while urging them to support the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
He said an Oyebamiji-led administration would prioritise inclusive governance, economic empowerment, skills development and improved opportunities for the informal sector.
The empowerment programme attracted artisans and other informal workers, including barbers, hairdressers, welders, textile workers, traders, commercial motorcyclists and automobile technicians.
Oyintiloye said the initiative was part of his efforts to support residents and strengthen grassroots participation in governance.
A community leader, Bishop Michael Adewale, also urged the beneficiaries to remain united and peaceful, saying political differences should not be allowed to destroy existing relationships.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Comrade Tijani Bello appreciated the initiative and expressed support for the empowerment programme.
Oyintiloye reiterated his call for an election conducted in an atmosphere of peace, unity, tolerance and mutual respect.
