Nigerian Law School Confirms Death of 23-Year-Old Student in Lagos

The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Faith Alayande, a student of its Enugu Campus who was temporarily accommodated at the Lagos Campus hostel for an externship programme.

Alayande died after falling from the rooftop of the hostel at about 4 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, according to a statement issued by the institution on Monday.

The Law School said it was working with the relevant authorities and the deceased’s family to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Lagos State Police Command had earlier confirmed the death, saying the hostel matron reported the incident after Alayande was found unresponsive.

Police operatives visited the scene and evacuated her body to a morgue, while investigation continues.

The Law School expressed condolences to Alayande’s family, colleagues and others affected by the loss, while appealing for respect for the family’s privacy during the period of mourning.

The institution also reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of its students and staff.
