Your Petition is Ego-driven- Nnamani Tells Obi to Drop Petition and Align with Tinubu

His attempt to highlight non-electoral issues is trying to embarrass the President-elect.

Ex- Enugu State’s Governor, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, on Sunday, described the petition filed by the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, against Bola Ahmed-Tinubu in challenging both the process and outcome of the 2023 presidential election as ego-driven.

Senator Nnamani in a statement pointed out that Obi’s quest in challenging the 2023 election is “a joke carried too far”, hence the need for him to withdraw the petition.

Nnamani explained that it is important for Obi and his supporters to align with the declared President-Elect and participate in welcoming Tinubu’s victory to the Office of the President of the greatest black nation on earth.

“His Petition is dead on arrival. He does not have the spread or national appeal. His appeal to non-electoral matters is to demarket the President-elect and besmirch his reputation.

“His petition is ego-driven, a joke carried too far . His attempt to highlight non-electoral issues is trying to embarrass the President-elect”. He said.

He, however, admonished Obi to come down from his high horse so that the very composed minds can negotiate on behalf of the Igbos and South-East or be relegated back to history.

“Obi needs to come down from his high horse to allow sedate minds to negotiate on behalf of the Igbo and South East for a safe landing to include our stake in the national palaver and share of the accruals of the commonwealth.”

“We must join the mainstream and participate in making a new Nigeria. We are not going anywhere. We dey kampe and ready to bargain for our share. It is common knowledge that others are doing the same.

“Igbo has to confront reality now or be consigned to the backwoods of history. Time to align is now.”

Nnamani, also added in the statement that Peter Obi knows he has neither the spread nor national appeal to win the Presidential election pointing out that what Obi is doing with the petition is “bad belle, petulance and demarketing”.

Recall that Obi had filed a petition to challenge the victory of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in the 25 February election noting that Tinubu failed to win the majority of the lawful votes cast in the election, and just as he could not secure one-quarter of the legal votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Peter Obi, who came third in the 2023 election by polling a total of 6,101,533 votes alleged that the election was characterised by various irregularities including the non-qualification of the Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima to contest the election.
