‘The Grid Is Back To Normal’- NUEE President Says After Labour Strike Suspension
The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE said the national grid has been restored after the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress suspended their strike.
This was confirmed by NUEE National President, Adebiyi Adeyeye to PUNCH Online in an interview on Tuesday.
According to him, the National grid is active which means no more darkness across the country.
“The strike has been suspended, which means the grid has come back to normal. It is on already,” Adeyeye told Punch.
Recall the organised labour on Monday began a nationwide strike over the Federal Government’s refusal to raise the proposed minimum wage from N60,000 and reverse the Band A tariff to N65 per kilowatt-hour instead of N206/KWh as reported by The Pendulum Media.
In the early hours of Monday, the electricity workers in compliance shut down the national grid, plunging the nation into darkness.
The organised labour has suspended the strike for five days to resume negotiations with the Federal Government on a minimum wage that is above N60,000.
However, the grid has yet to be fully restored at press time.
