JUST-IN: Again, Private Jet With VIPs Onboard Crash-Lands In Ibadan
A private jet carrying about 10 passengers including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to a source, the jet with the registration number N580KR crash-landed into a nearby bush on Friday around 11 am at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport after it missed the runway.
It was reported that Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene. But fortunately, no life was lost.
“It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, told our correspondent over the phone.
When contacted, a spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunmbi, said he would revert but he was yet to do so as of press time.
Recall that a similar incident occurred in November when a plane that had the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu on board crash-landed at the same spot at the airport.
However, the rate of aviation incidents in the past few months is a call for concern after a head sweep of aviation agencies.
