AFCON 2023: Angola President, João Lourenço, Keeps Hope Alive After Team’s Defeat to Super Eagles

President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, has lifted the spirit of the Palancas Negras after the team suffered a loss in a clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday.

Angola team got eliminated from the competition in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations making it the third time they made it to the AFCON quarter-final.

Recall, Ademola Lookman secured a goal for Nigeria in a 1-0 win over Angola at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Nonetheless, the Angolan President on his official X social network account wrote (translated) and applauded the players for their exploits, encouraging them of a better future performance.

He wrote; “In this CAN we did well, but we need to improve, learning from our mistakes.

“Don’t be discouraged; the next one will be ours, just depending on all of us, MINJUD, FAF, Palancas, and all Angolan fans,”.
