Seven Family Members Die in Kano Fire Outbreak
Seven members of one family in Kano have lost their lives in a fire incident near Tudun Wada Juma’at Mosque.
An official from Kano State Fire Service Alhaji Saminu Abdullah told
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the fire outbreak occurred on Sunday night and affected the father, mother, and their five children.
He said, “We received a distress call at Dakata fire station from one Ibrahim Sani at about 12:25 am that there was a fire outbreak in a building at Tudun Wada Quarters.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our fire fighting vehicle to the scene at about 12:30 am,’’.
According to him, the firefighters evacuated seven unconscious victims from the slightly burnt two rooms and a parlour they were occupied and were rushed to hospital.
“The doctor confirmed seven of them dead due to the smoke they inhaled,’’
Abdullah added that the investigation revealed that the fire, caused by an electric spark, was out of control by the time firefighters arrived.
He, however, advised the general public to exercise caution while handling electrical appliances and flammable materials to avoid fire incidents and other emergencies.
