Official Silence Permeates Ondo Government Office Over Akeredolu’s Death
It’s no news of the passing of Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, which circulated the state and its environs in the early hours of Wednesday.
Newsmen who visited the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital, explained that the area looked deserted as only security guards were seen stationed at the entrance of the office.
Moreover, an official silence has been maintained by the Ondo State government officials as no statement is yet to be made to address the passing of the late governor despite multiple sources who have confirmed his demise.
However, the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Father Anselm Ologunwa, has spoken on Akeredolu’s demise.
Ologunwa in a statement released by the association’s Director of Information and Communications, Mr. Daisi Ajayi described Akeredolu as “a colossal loss to Ondo State and Nigeria,” lauded him as a “great fighter of democracy” and a “dedicated and loving father of all.”
While commending the governor’s decisiveness, which earned him the moniker “Mr. Talk and Do,”, the cleric noted Akeredolu’s leadership qualities as well as his numerous accomplishments.
In the statement, Ologunwa also referred to Akeredolu’s establishment of the Amotekun security outfit, and the numerous infrastructure projects, including roads, buildings, and social initiatives, undertaken during his administration.
Ologunwa offered condolences to the people of Ondo State and the Akeredolu family; also imploring implored God to grant the deceased governor eternal rest.
The late Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu died on Wednesday, 27th December after battling both prostate cancer and leukemia, a blood cancer disease.
