Stay Cautious- NiMet Warns Patients With Respiratory Issues, Others Over 3-Day Dust Haze, Sunshine Forecast

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted the possibility of the country to experience both haziness and sunshine from Saturday to Monday.

The agency released the weather outlook on Friday in Abuja and
also seized the opportunity to advise people with asthma and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather situation.

It also advised airline operators to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

According to NiMet, a moderate dust haze has been forecasted on Saturday with horizontal visibility of 2km and 5km over the northern region during the forecast period.

It also added that some prospects of localised thunderstorms are also expected over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day.

“A sunny sky in a hazy atmosphere is expected over the north-central cities and the inland cities of the south. It anticipated partly cloudy skies in a hazy atmosphere over the coastal belt of the country.” It said.

It also revealed that sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the inland cities of the South during the forecast period, and hatches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period.

For Monday, it explained that moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North, Northcentral, and inland cities of the South during the forecast period.

NiMet also said that few cloud patches are expected in the hazy atmosphere over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period, while the agency urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are suspended.
