Ministerial Nominee BalarabeAbbas Lawal, Slumps During Senate Hearing

A ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal has collapsed during screening on the floor of the Senate.

Lawal, an indigene of Kaduna state, from Kachia Local Government, went down just after he introduced himself, and one of the Senators from Kaduna was making his address.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio immediately requested for water and sugar to be administered to the nominee.

Abbas Lawal, born on February 5, 1958, aged 65, had served as secretary to the government under Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and who also replaced El-Rufai in Tinubu’s cabinet.

He was being screened alongside Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.

Abbas Lawal Balarabe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1978-1981).

He also holds an M.Sc in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1984-1986).

Balarabe is the second ministerial nominee on the list.
